We really cannot advise you without detailed instructions. However, first, our document introduction pages will help you decide which document to buy. Second, almost all our document templates come with drafting notes to help you make the right decisions on what to add, select or delete. After you have bought, you can always contact us by phone if you need further help – absolutely free!

You certainly can. One of the leading features of Net Lawman documents is that you can edit, save and re-use. Most documents include drafting notes which explain which parts of the document you can change and which parts we advise should stay un-altered.

Any words, sentences or clauses that are optional are highlighted in blue. Simply choose the most suitable for your circumstances and delete the rest.

A10. Can I issue a statutory demand for payment?

Our summary advice on when to use is when:

  • You are chasing more than, say, £5,000.
  • You are absolutely certain that they owe you the money - every penny of it and the debt is crystalised. That means you do not need to ask a judge to say how much of your money claim is due to you.
  • Your debtor has the money.
  • You calculate that your debtor will pay rather than risk your issuing a petition. This depends of course on his perception of you as well as where he could find the money as a last resort.
  • You are prepared to follow up by issuing a petition. You hope that might never be necessary. But, as in any litigation, hesitation comes through in your tactics. You lose the impact completely if you are seen to be bluffing.

We try to keep up with all legislation by constantly reviewing our documents. However, occasionally something “slips through the net”, just as it might with a solicitor. But in five years of trading we have yet to hear of any problem arising from that.

A15. Can I review a document template before I buy it?

Many, but not all, of our document templates can be ‘previewed’ before you buy. Click on the ‘Preview’ button next the document you want to see on the relevant introduction page. You can view most of the document although for obvious reasons, we mark the pages so you cannot see everything.

Alternatively, each document introduction page has a list of the specific provisions the document contains so you can check that the document includes everything you require.
