Data Protection (Fees) Regulations, 1990
 
 
S.I. No. 80/1990
 
  I, RAY BURKE, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 17 of the Data Protection Act, 1988 (No. 25 of 1988), hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, make the following regulations:
 
1- These Regulations may be cited as the Data Protection (Fees) Regulations, 1990.
   
2- In these Regulations "the Act" means the Data Protection Act, 1988 (No. 25 of 1988).

(1) A fee of £200 is hereby prescribed for the purposes of section 17 (2) of the Act in respect of an application for registration made by a person who has more than 25 persons in his employment.
   
(2) A fee of £50 is hereby prescribed for the purposes of the said section in respect of an application for registration made by any other person.
   
(1) A fee of £200 is hereby prescribed for the purposes of section 17 (7) of the Act in respect of an application for continuance of registration made by a person who has more than 25 persons in his employment.

(1) A fee of £200 is hereby prescribed for the purposes of section 17 (7) of the Act in respect of an application for continuance of registration made by a person who has more than 25 persons in his employment.
   
(2) A fee of £50 is hereby prescribed for the purposes of the said section in respect of an application for continuance of registration made by any other person.
   
(3) A fee of £50 is hereby prescribed for the purposes of the said section in respect of an application for alteration of the particulars in an entry in the register.
   
5- Regulations 5 and 6 of the Data Protection (Fees) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 347 of 1988 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
   
  The regulations alter the fees payable by persons applying to be registered, or to have their registration continued, under the Data Protection Act 1988 .

They increase the present fee of £100, payable by all applicants, to £200 for applicants with more than 25 employees and reduce it to £50 for other applicants.
